Title: "A Great American Solar Eclipse: But Which One?"

Synopsis: More than a year ago, Paul Coia, treasurer of the Alachua Astronomy Club, approached me about a past USA eclipse. He had an undated newspaper article about a previous "great American eclipse" that helped generate a groundswell of interest in astronomy.

However, Paul was unable to figure out which USA eclipse this was and asked for help.
 
Several USA total eclipses of the Sun have been called a "Great American Eclipse." So, which eclipse was this? How could we know? What was its significance? Why was it so remarkable? And would it happen again?

This special presentation answers these intriguing questions and gives the history and importance of this momentous event.

I originally spent an afternoon presenting this to guests traveling with me on a Holland America Indonesia eclipse cruise this past March. Audience members gave the presentation high marks.

So, spend an evening with me so I can tell you the intriguing story about this almost forgotten but notable eclipse at the AAC's November meeting.

And it's also a good introduction to next year's "Great American Eclipse."
