AAC volunteers needed for an Observing the Moon Outreach @ Hickory Ranch.  Volunteer members with and without telescopes please register for entry to the event and for updates.

Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is hosting an outreach for the Alachua Astronomy Club to show off the moon and other bright night sky objects, weather permitting, at Hickory Ranch.

Tickets for attendees (not AAC volunteers) are being issued by Friends of Paynes Prairie and will be limited to 250 visitors.  For tickets go to www.prairiefriends.org then click events.

Sunset is at 5:46 pm with moon already up @ 42% illumination

Volunteers should arrive no later than 5:00 pm.  Pick out several sky objects and note a few details about them to share.  AC power is available with a long extension cord if needed.  Temps fall after dark so dress warmly.

Dr. Howard Cohen will be presenting a continuously running video program titled "Magnificent Mysterious Moon".

Point of contact for Alachua Astronomy Club is Lisa Eager, Star Party Coordinator @ 352-318-4074.

From Gainesville go South on US 441, then left at the traffic light in Micanopy (CR 234). Go 3.8 miles on CR 234. Hickory Ranch will be on your left side.
